The benefits of

Root Canal Treatment

Expert root canal treatment with gentle care and advanced technology to save your tooth and relieve pain.

What is Root Canal Treatment?

A root canal treatment is the removal of the pulp (the soft tissue inside your tooth containing nerves and blood vessels) of a tooth when it becomes infected or inflamed.

Left untreated, this infection can lead to severe pain, swelling, and even tooth loss. During a root canal procedure, we carefully remove the infected pulp, clean and disinfect the root canals, and seal the tooth to prevent further infection.

This treatment is sometimes referred to as endodontic treatment.

When you do need Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal treatment becomes necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside your tooth containing nerves and blood vessels, becomes inflamed or infected.

This often occurs due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures, or cracks and chips in the tooth. If left untreated, this infection can cause significant pain or lead to an abscess, which can spread the infection to surrounding tissues. Root canal treatment is designed to remove the infected pulp, clean and disinfect the interior of the tooth, and then seal it to prevent further issues.

People might also need root canal treatment to save a tooth that might otherwise need to be extracted. Preserving your natural teeth is important for maintaining proper chewing function, bite alignment, and overall oral health.

By performing a root canal, we can eliminate the infection and pain, allowing you to keep your natural tooth intact. Root canal treatment is often no more uncomfortable than getting a regular filling, and it offers the benefit of long-term oral health and comfort.

What procedure do follow in Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal treatment involves several key steps:

  • Diagnosis and Preparation: The dentist first examines the affected tooth, often using X-rays to assess the extent of the infection or damage. Local anaesthesia is administered to numb the area.
  • Pulp Removal: The dentist creates an opening in the tooth to access the pulp chamber and root canals. The infected or damaged pulp is then carefully removed.
  • Cleaning and Disinfection: The empty canals are thoroughly cleaned, shaped, and disinfected to remove any remaining bacteria and prevent future infection.
  • Filling and Sealing: The cleaned canals are filled with a biocompatible material and the tooth is sealed to protect it from further contamination.
  • Restoration: In most cases, a temporary filling is placed followed by a crown ensuring the tooth is protected and can function normally.
