By establishing a good dental health regime from an early age, you can help your child avoid problems such as decay and can set them up for good oral health for life.
At 25 Devonshire Place, we offer private children’s dentistry. We recommend that you should bring your child to see us as soon as they get their first milk tooth. As well as ensuring they have good dental care from the start, this will get them used to visiting the dentist, and will help them to regard dentist visits as a positive, everyday experience.
Early visits to the dental practice will help to spot problems before they become serious, potentially avoiding the need for more invasive treatment. We will also provide you and your child with advice to follow at home to keep their teeth and gums as healthy as possible. Our standard children’s check-up costs just £30.
Fissure Sealant
We offer all of our child patients fissure sealant, which helps to prevent decay in permanent teeth. Fissure sealant is a thin, plastic coating that is applied to the back teeth, keeping germs and pieces of food out of the grooves on the teeth. Children’s permanent back teeth usually start to come through from the age of six or seven, although it will vary from case to case. Fissure sealant treatment does not need to be repeated at every visit, and can last up to ten years.
Fluoride Varnish
Fluoride varnish is applied to teeth to help prevent decay. The high level of fluoride in the varnish strengthens tooth enamel, making the teeth more resistant to decay. Fluoride varnish can be applied to both milk teeth and adult teeth, and is recommended from the age of three upwards. The treatment needs to be repeated every six months, which ties in nicely with your child’s standard dental check-ups.
PREVENTATIVE ORTHODONTICS
MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPY – MYOBRACE®
Most of our children these days are developing crowded teeth and their jaws are developing incorrectly. Crowded teeth do not just happen, they are a symptom as well as a warning sign that a child’s jaw and face are not developing correctly. The main culprits causing crowded teeth are poor oral habits, such as mouth breathing and incorrect swallowing, combined with the forces of the tongue cheeks and lips. In order to prevent more serious problems developing in later years these bad habits can and should be treated as early as possible and most often without the need for braces or extractions.
At 25 Devonshire Place we are addressing orthodontic issues at an early age using the pain and stress-free solution of Myobrace® system and its innovative appliances.
Myobrace® appliances are easily used and worn for one hour each day, during normal daily activity, and overnight.
